WEBSITE DEVELOPMENT FAQ

Can You Redesign My Existing Website?

How we redesign a live site without losing the rankings and enquiries it already brings.

Yes, we can redesign your existing website on WordPress, WooCommerce, Shopify or custom code, keeping your domain and the pages that already rank. Every redesign starts with an audit and a redirect plan, is built on a staging copy, and goes live only after you approve it.

How we redesign an existing website

  1. Audit

We export every URL, check which pages bring traffic and enquiries in Search Console and GA4, and note speed problems against Google's Core Web Vitals.

  2. Plan

Keep, merge or remove each page. Any URL that changes gets a 301 redirect mapped in advance.

  3. Build on staging

The new design is built on a private copy while your current site keeps working.

  4. Launch and monitor

We switch over, test forms, WhatsApp buttons and redirects, then watch Search Console for crawl errors in the following weeks.

What changes the scope

  • Refresh or rebuild. A new theme on the same WordPress install is quicker than moving platforms.
  • Platform change. Moving a store between Shopify and WooCommerce means migrating products, customers and order history; see our ecommerce website development page.
  • Rankings to protect. An old site with strong rankings needs more redirect and SEO work than a new domain, which our website price guide lists as a cost driver.
  • Content. Rewriting thin service pages adds time but often improves leads.

What this means for your business

Most traffic losses after a redesign come from missing redirects, deleted pages that ranked, or a staging site left blocked from search engines. Ask any provider how they handle those three. Our website development team includes redirect mapping in every redesign, and complex sites get a technical SEO check before launch.

Frequently asked questions

Will I lose my Google rankings after a redesign?

Not if it is done carefully. Keep URLs where possible, redirect the rest, preserve content that ranks and check Search Console after launch. Short-term movement is common while Google recrawls.

How long does a website redesign take?

Similar to a new build: about two to three weeks for a small site and four to six weeks for a custom design of up to 20 pages. Stores and platform migrations take longer.

Can you keep my current content and only change the design?

Yes. We can move existing text and images into the new design, then suggest which pages need rewriting based on traffic and enquiries.
